I'm Kate, an avid traveller and lover of the wild. I feel most at home in the silence of an ancient forest, embracing the solitude of a mountain summit, making the first footprint in a blanket of snow, admiring the crush of a rolling wave, rinsing the sand off my heels and salt from my hair, or overlooking the wing on an intercontinental flight. Follow me and my adventures to explore the Earth and all she has to offer.
The thrill of adventure enticed me as a toddler and grew profoundly with me as an adult. From ambitious pre-professional ballet dancing to combating a pre-medicine education to completing a global health master's program, my adventures have enabled me to travel all over the world, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
The most elaborate adventures upon which I've embarked involved international travel starting at a young age. For instance, a family vacation to Jamaica constituted my first flight out of the country at the mere age of two years old. Unfortunately, the only memory I have is chasing baby dinosaurs (a.k.a geckos) throughout the campground.
My first international trip without the accompaniment of a family member was to the classical ballet mecca of the world, St. Petersburg, Russia. I travelled with my training program in the spring of my freshman year of high school (2007) to perform original choreography, to take master ballet classes, and to experience the Russian culture from an artistic perspective. Though my Russian was severely limited, it was enjoyable to try to learn! I was bit by the travel bug and infected by the incessant compulsion to travel – a condition for which the only treatment is to buy the ticket.
Since my days romping around the Jamaican jungle as a tiny tot, I have travelled throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America, and South Africa with plenty more journeys on the horizon. This blog will host a kaleidoscope of photos and musings from my adventures and escapades, recommendations and experiences.
